Design & Working Principle
Gear Pumps operate on the positive displacement principle using a rotor and idler gear assembly housed within a precisely machined casing. A crescent-shaped component separates the inner and outer gears. As the rotor gear drives the idler gear, cavities are formed between the gear teeth, allowing fluid to be trapped, carried around the casing, and discharged smoothly at the outlet.
The efficiency of a gear pump increases with fluid viscosity, making it highly suitable for pumping oils, bitumen, fats, syrups, cocoa, resins, chocolate, paints, and similar viscous materials. Due to fine gear tolerances, these pumps provide excellent suction capability, smooth non-pulsating flow, and consistent discharge performance.
