Pump Design & Working Principle
Diaphragm Type Dosing Pumps are highly recommended for hazardous, toxic, and poisonous liquids, where leakage is strictly unacceptable. These pumps feature a hydraulically actuated diaphragm combined with a back pressure valve that balances hydraulic oil pressure within the chamber.
In operation, the reciprocating plunger transmits displacement through hydraulic oil to the diaphragm. The oscillating movement of the diaphragm creates the pumping action on the process fluid, assisted by in-built non-return valves at both suction and discharge ends. The diaphragm acts as a perfect seal between the hydraulic oil and the pumped liquid, ensuring complete isolation and leak-free operation.
The pumps can be supplied with single or double diaphragm construction, typically using PTFE (Teflon) diaphragms for superior chemical resistance. The back pressure valve in the hydraulic oil tank ensures consistent pumping accuracy over long operating periods and automatically compensates for pressure drops caused by minor oil leakage. Additionally, it acts as a safety device, protecting the pump from damage if discharge pressure exceeds the rated limit.
