Standard centrifugal pumps do not have self-priming capability and are unable to pump when the liquid flow in the suction pipe is interrupted. Self-Priming Centrifugal Pumps are specially designed to overcome this limitation by automatically removing air from the suction line and resuming pumping without manual priming.
Unlike conventional centrifugal pumps, self-priming centrifugal pumps are capable of handling liquids mixed with air and can operate reliably even under demanding and extreme conditions. However, it should be noted that self-priming performance can be affected by back pressure; higher pump heads require greater effort for effective self-priming.
